FRANEX 2026 Highlights Growing Cross-Border Franchise Opportunities Between Egypt and Saudi Arabia

FRANEX 2026 brought together 220+ brands from 18 countries, strengthening franchise links between Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Middle Eastern markets.
FRANEX 2026, the Egyptian-Saudi International Franchise Expo, has highlighted the growing importance of cross-border franchising as a driver of investment, entrepreneurship and international expansion across the Middle East.
Held in Cairo from July 1 to 3, 2026, the first edition of FRANEX in Egypt brought together more than 220 local and international brands from 18 countries. The event included more than 70 Egyptian brands and 50 Saudi brands, alongside international franchise companies and institutions.
Egypt and Saudi Arabia Strengthen Franchise Cooperation
The exhibition was designed as a strategic platform connecting Egyptian and Saudi investors, franchisors, entrepreneurs and franchise institutions. Its broader objective was to create new opportunities for brands seeking to expand across regional and international markets.
For Egyptian brands, the Saudi market represents an important gateway to the Gulf region, while Saudi companies can use Egypt as a major market and regional platform for growth. The cooperation promoted through FRANEX therefore reflects a wider trend toward cross-border franchise development in the Middle East.
A Regional Platform for Franchise Expansion
FRANEX was not limited to the Egyptian-Saudi relationship. The event brought together participants from 18 countries and included representatives from several regional franchise institutions. Among those present at the opening were representatives of the Saudi National Franchise Company, the Saudi Social Development Bank and the Franchise Center of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
This regional participation underlines the increasingly interconnected nature of the Middle East franchise ecosystem. Brands looking to expand today are increasingly considering several markets simultaneously, particularly Saudi Arabia and other Gulf economies.
Franchising as a Growth Strategy
During the event, Egyptian officials highlighted the role of franchising in helping promising businesses gain access to new markets, expertise and investment. FRANEX also aimed to help Egyptian brands understand the requirements of regional and international markets and prepare for expansion beyond Egypt.
For investors and entrepreneurs, this creates another advantage: franchise exhibitions such as FRANEX provide opportunities to compare established concepts, meet brand owners and identify potential franchise, master franchise and expansion partnerships.
What FRANEX 2026 Means for Middle East Franchising
The importance of FRANEX goes beyond the three-day exhibition. Its first edition demonstrates the growing appetite for regional franchise partnerships and for locally successful brands to expand into neighbouring markets.
As franchise ecosystems mature across the Gulf and wider Middle East, opportunities are likely to increase for Egyptian brands entering Saudi Arabia, Saudi brands expanding into other Middle Eastern markets, and international franchisors seeking experienced local partners.
FRANEX 2026 therefore represents a significant development for the region's franchise landscape, reinforcing the role of Egypt-Saudi cooperation in connecting brands, investors and entrepreneurs across the Middle East.
